Walk to School Day – TOMORROW! – National Walk to School Day is tomorrow, October 10th! Put on your walking shoes and join us as we promote healthy, active choices by walking or biking to school on Wednesday, October 10th! Any child who walks or bikes to school tomorrow will be asked to share that information with homeroom teachers tomorrow morning. The class with the greatest participation rate will be awarded the coveted Golden Sneaker Award! We hope all our students give walking or biking to school a try tomorrow!
Scholastic Book Fair- The Scholastic Book Fair will be held during Parent-Teacher Conferences in the LRC on TODAY and Thursday, October 11th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Students will have a chance to preview the books at their book checkout time on Wednesday. If you are unable to attend the fair in person, we invite you to visit our online book fair at www.scholastic.com/bf/
REMINDERS
Reflections-The Reflections program is back again for the 2018-19 school year! Reflections is a National PTA art program where each student is encouraged to submit an entry in one or more of 6 creative categories. This year’s Reflections theme is: Heroes Around Me. Click here for detailed guidelines and rules per category, from the Illinois PTA. Please review the rules carefully before your student begins his or her project.
Battle of the Bands – Hey Parents! Do you sing in the shower? Do you secretly play guitar in your basement? Do you want to learn how to play the triangle? No musical talent, but you would love to be on stage? Join the Pierce Downer Battle of the Bands! This fun spring event is made up of Pierce Downer parent bands. All experience levels are welcome!
