This is an end-of-the-year celebration for our sixth grade students and their parents before they graduate from Pierce Downer. The PTA supports the planning and staffing of the event as well as partially funding it.
Approximately twice a month throughout the school year lunch is brought in via outside vendors for all students who have signed up and paid. It is an opportunity for parents to not have to pack a lunch for their child and for their child to receive a hot lunch if they so choose. Parents must sign up for the program at the start of the school year. PTA volunteers manage the distribution of the lunches to the students during the lunch periods.
This committee works toward educating students & families on healthy eating and lifestyle habits. The committee meets monthly to organize activities such as: Running Club, Panther Pacers, Earth Week, and National Nutrition month events. The committee also manages the school butterfly gardens. Green thumbs and butterfly enthusiasts are welcome to volunteer for this very active committee!
The PTA Landscaping committee helps beautify the outside of our school. This includes clean-up, weeding, planting and mulch throughout the school year.
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC) SUPPLIES
Our PTA helps fund additional supplies as needed for the library or also referred to as the Learning Resource Center. The PTA also assist in coordinating volunteers to work in the LRC during the school day.
This PTA committee helps welcome new families to our school by providing a mentor family to them and sets up a new family welcome meeting to get to know the school.
SAFETY PATROL
This committee is managed by Pierce Downer teachers. But the PTA supports their needs by funding any new supplies needed such as vests, rain gear and also an end-of-year pizza party for all patrol members.
The PTA sets up the online school directory via Directory Spot which is only accessible to PTA members. They also manage the creation of the hard-copy directory that is given to all PTA members.
This committee helps to decide on the vendor, ordering and distribution of school supply kits ordered for each student.
This committee manages all that goes into thanking our teachers during the spring teacher appreciate week.
TEACHER SUPPLIES
The PTA provides a stipend to each teacher to spend on anything they need for their classroom. This is not a committee but a budgeted line item that our PTA funds.
This committee plans and facilitates our annual VIP day for the 1st and 5th graders every year.
