The STEM Committee is now the STEAM Committee! Why? We are adding the Arts! Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. It’s not about spending less time on STEM subjects and more time on art, it’s about sparking students’ imagination and creativity through the arts. Students can utilize their artistic talents to generate innovative thinking. The Arts offer creativity, imagination and design. It is the way of future with the interactive technology driven 21st century. Art education allows students to learn things in a more open ended way and make them applicable to real life. Arts and creativity are crucial to the sciences, technology and computer science. We will continue offering all our wonderful STEM programs in addition to adding The Arts!
STEAM Classes
- SPANISH, FRENCH, AND MANDARIN: The Language Labs is at Pierce Downer to host up to THREE different language classes: French, Spanish (two teachers for two levels to accommodate both beginners and advanced students). All classes are offered over lunch.
- CHESS: Chess Scholars is a very popular offering for grades K-6!
