Panthers Pacers – Families…have a free hour or so during PD’s lunchtime recesses to help our kids run, stay active and earn some fun tokens that they all love? Then please sign up here for dates with our Panthers Pacers! All volunteers welcome — moms, dads, grandparents, nannies and other caregivers!

Sign up for as many spots as you want — all help is greatly appreciated! If you leave your cell number in the signup Lisa Henrickson will send you a text the morning of your volunteer spot if Panthers Pacers will be canceled due to inclement weather or field conditions.

MOD Pizza Fundraiser – Join MOD Pizza in supporting Pierce Downer on Thursday, October 3rd for lunch, dinner, or both!  Flyers will be sent home with your student(s) to bring into MOD or you can access it via your phone. MOD will donate 20% of your bill to Pierce Downer.  MOD Pizza is located at 1022 W. Ogden Avenue (next to Jewel). Please mark your calendars and participate to help support the PD PTA!

DGN Homecoming Parade – DGN Homecoming shirts are still available!! Please order your shirts to walk in the DGN homecoming parade on Friday, October 4th right after school!  Shirts are $12.00/each, Click here to order.  Orders are due Friday, September 27th! STEAM – Currently enrolling for Language Labs and Chess Scholars (which has started as of 9/23). Please remember to like and follow Pierce Downer PTA on Facebook for flyers and info. If you would like to be a part of our committee or see if it may be a good fit for your volunteering time, please email Kate Urban at kateberry6@gmail.com.  You can be involved as much or as little as you like!

• Spanish, French and Mandarin: The Language Labs are back at Pierce Downer this year to host THREE different language classes: French, Spanish, and Mandarin.  Click here for general information about all 3 language classes.  Click here for the flyer and enrollment information. Go to thelanguagelabs.net to register.  Classes begin the week of September 30th and run for 25 weeks. All students grades K-6.

Reading Games – The 2020 Reading Games team registration has opened, so start forming teams! The Reading Games is a free and fun district-wide reading competition for District 58 students in grades 3-8. The program aims to introduce new genres of books to students and to encourage students to enjoy reading. Students form teams of 5-8 children, collaborate to read 12 books, and answer trivia questions.

Team registration is open from September 22 through October 15. All teams completing registration during this time will able to participate. The Games returns to O’Neill Middle School on Saturday, February 22. Please check the reading games website https://www.readinggamesdg58.com and click here for list 1 and list 2 books. Annual Giving Campaign – Many PD families have already participated in our annual giving campaign – thank you to all those that have contributed! Please consider donating $85/per student to fund all of our current PTA programs (or donating an amount that suits your family).  We hope to have 100% participation this year.  The amount we receive from this campaign will determine the rest of the year’s fundraising goals. Please give what you can.  All amounts are appreciated.  The Pierce Downer PTA is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization.  Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Battle of the Bands– Hey Pierce Downer Parents, Please consider signing up to play in a band for Battle of the Bands this year! This event REALLY needs some new folks to join, so if you’ve been on the fence about signing up, this is your year! We need you!  Please sign up to be in a band by November 8th by clicking here. Artcot– Artcot Museum will be on Friday, October 25th. We need parents interested in planning, gathering supplies, and running an art room.

No experience needed nor do you need an art background to help. You can choose your room or we can provide you art projects and ideas.

Gifts & Goods Fundraiser – Thanks to all that participated in the Gifts & Goods Fundraiser, because of you we raised approximately $2100 that will go directly back to Pierce Downer!  We appreciate your support! Thank you to Vikki Jacknow for organizing!
