Teacher Appreciation – Virtual Flowers and Thank you! On Thursday, May 7th during their homeroom zoom meeting, students are encouraged to either hold up real/faux flowers, a drawn picture of flowers and/or a note saying THANK YOU to the teacher. A little surprise to brighten the teachers’ day! Kindergarten and 5th grade will do this during their Friday, May 8th zoom.
Thank you again for helping us celebrate our teachers from afar!
Year end reimbursement/checks – Have you submitted all of your PTA related expenses for the year? Please complete the check request form here and either email the request (plus any receipts) to Kerry Sharpee at ksharpee@hotmail.com or drop off in her mailbox (4818 Stonewall) as soon as possible.
Reflections – The National PTA Reflections program announced the National winners for the 2019-20 theme, “Look Within”. Tens of thousands of students across the country contributed their original works to be considered for PTA’s highest honor in the arts. The state of Illinois submitted twenty-six pieces of art. A panel of art and education experts juried over a thousand national level submissions and four students were chosen for recognition. A big Congratulations to Avery Miller on receiving the national Award of Excellence!! Avery will be awarded the following prizes: a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, a silver medallion, an Award of Excellence certificate and her work on exhibit with National PTA through June 2021. Physical exhibits will be on display in January 2021 at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington D.C. and in June 2021 at the National PTA Convention & Expo in Grapevine, Texas. Way to go Avery!!!
