Battle of the Bands Adult Show THIS SATURDAY – Get the chance for the BEST seats in the house THIS SATURDAY, April 30th for Battle of the Bands!! Two tables of 4 in front of the stage will be raffled off. Raffle tickets are available on Member Hub. Two winners will be notified this Friday! Click Raffle Tickets to buy! Please join us at Ballydoyle for an evening of entertainment by our Pierce Downer Parent Bands! Doors open at 6PM. There is a $10 suggested donation/cover charge at the door. Teacher Experience Raffle – Would your child like a special pizza lunch with their teacher, a tie-dye party with Mr. Wagner or an origami lesson with Ms. Pienado?  The popular tradition of teacher experiences is returning this spring! These special activities created by our amazing teachers will be sure to be memorable experiences for your child.  All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards a wishlist item(s) for PD teachers. Teacher experience raffle tickets will be available for purchase on Memberhub beginning this Friday May 29th at 12pm through Friday May 6th at 12pm. Raffle tickets are $10 for 10 entries. Winners will be notified via email on Sunday May 8th. Preview the full list of experiences HERE. A link to purchase the experiences will be emailed this Friday.

Scholastic Book Fair – Don’t forget! We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during Open House this Thursday (4/28). The fair will be held in the gym from 6-8pm. Come peruse a great selection of books and support the PD library! Can’t make it in person? Shop online through PD’s unique link HERE.

ARTCOT – Please join us on Friday, May 13th from 6:30-8:30pm for a fun FREE PTA sponsored family event where you can create Dala Horses, midsummer crowns, sculpture scarab beetles, make Egyptian cartouches, paint on an all school mural, paint rocks for our kindness path in the monarch way station, learn Chinese calligraphy writing, create origami, use chopsticks, graffiti art, AND SO MUCH MORE…please bring an old shirt for screen printing…Get your passport stamped for a prize. You’re PAWsome Signs – Our yard signs are a perfect way to show your PD spirit and support our school at the same time! Great for birthdays, or just to surprise your PD Panther! For only $25, your chosen address will get 5 yard signs installed in the front lawn for 1 full day, by a member of our You’re PAWsome team. Please reserve and pay for your day(s) HERE.

We need your input – PLAY! at Pierce – On May 2nd, please visit our website www.playatpierce.org to take the community input survey – and weigh in on what the ideal playground will look like for all of us.  Your opinion matters!

  • Almost Sold Out! FORE the Kids Golf Outing– Saturday, May 21st * Village Greens, Woodridge * Shotgun Start 1 PM * Happy Hour 3 PM * Dinner and Drinks 5:30 PM.  Tickets can be purchased on our website.  Evening will include a silent auction, open bar and BBQ dinner, raffle prizes and lots of fun!  Even if you cannot attend that day, the Silent Auction/Raffle will be accessible online so chances to bid and win can still happen!  Fabulous prizes include – tickets to the 2023 Masters, Ski weekends in Michigan, a signed Ayo Dosunmu jersey and much more!

Thank you to everyone who made Earth Week so much fun. Thank you to every student who participated.Thank you to the Healthy Kids Committee Members, Teachers, and Mr. Wagner for a fantastic Earth Week! Don’t forget we are still collecting bread tags for SCARCE through June!

April Dine-Out at The Foxtail TOMORROW – Please join us for our April dine-out tomorrow, Wednesday, April 20th, from 11:30am – 9pm, at The Foxtail. Dine-in or carry out and 20% of your check total will go back to Pierce Downer PTA! You must mention PIERCE DOWNER FUNDRAISER for our school to receive the 20% credit.

Chicago Wolves Game Fundraiser – Come watch the 1st place Chicago Wolves on Sunday, April 24th at 3pm.  The Wolves are an exciting AHL team who have already clinched their division and are headed to the playoffs! Each ticket includes a free Chicago Wolves knit hat and a portion of every ticket is being donated to Pierce Downer Elementary to help support our programs. Teacher Appreciation –We are collecting donations through Tuesday, April 26th ($5 per student suggested)! Thank you so much to those who have donated so far! Teacher Appreciation Week starts Monday, May 2 and we are excited to “award” our amazing staff with meals and surprises throughout the week! Like last year, our committee will be collecting monetary donations from our families in order to make this Teacher Appreciation Week special for our PD teachers and staff. Donations can be made to one of the co-chairs, Jen Meggos, through Venmo @Jen-Meggos. Cash donations can be dropped to Jen Meggos 4617 Saratoga Ave and placed in an envelope in the mailbox. Any donation is greatly appreciated!  Please see attached FLYER for more details!!

Earth Week Activities from the Healthy Kids Committee – This whole week is Earth Week at PD! Let’s celebrate our Earth with some fun! There are still a few days of celebration left!

  • Wednesday, April 20th:
    • Panther Pacers is back!!! Please sign up HERE if you want to volunteer during lunch recess.  
    • Clean & Play after school on the school black top by playground from 3-3:30pm. Sign Up HERE for more info and sign up to attend.  Please sign up your student for Clean & Play by Monday, April 18th.
  • Thursday, April 21st: 
    • Waste Free Thursday. Bring Waste Free Lunch to school. Students may participate in a raffle if they have a waste free lunch. One winner per grade level. 
    • Outdoor Yoga on black top by playground from 3-3:30pm. Sign up HERE for more info and sign up to attend. Please sign up your student for Outdoor Yoga by Monday, April 18th.
  • Friday, April 22nd – Earth Day!! Show your love for the Earth by wearing blue or green. Wear BLUE to support keeping our oceans clean or wear GREEN to support our Earth!

Volunteers needed for ARTCOT – We are still in need of volunteers for ARTCOT, which is May 13th from 6:30-8:30pm. Join us in helping make an amazing art/cultural night for our students! We are looking for parent volunteers to volunteer that night,set up, clean up etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Carrie Garman at carrie.c.garman@gmail.com. Clothes Donation – Are you doing some spring cleaning around your home? Want to get rid of some PD spirit wear that your child has outgrown? Why not contribute a small bag of gently used clothes (tops and bottoms) to the PD nurses office? The PD nursing staff uses these clothes when students get muddy or have spills while at school.  All sizes are needed and a bin will be available in the vestibule at the front of school through Friday, April 22.  Thank you!

PLAY! at Pierce: Please purchase your tickets for our Fore the Kids Golf Scramble.  The Fore the Kids Golf Scramble is May 21st @ Village Greens in Woodridge with a Shotgun Start: 1 PM | Happy Hour: 3 PM | Dinner & Open Bar: 5 PM  There is something for everyone and all ability levels are welcome to play golf.  Not interested in playing a full 18?  Play as many holes as you want and head to happy hour at 3:00!  Create your own foursome or we will pair you up with fellow Pierce Downer parents.  The evening includes dinner, open bar, a silent auction, raffles and more!  This is an adult only event.
