SLC’s Inpatient Kid Care Event AT HOME – A HUGE thank you goes out to all our families who participated in our event!! Ten Pierce Downer families tied 20 fleece blankets for patients, colored over 50 decorative birthday signs that will hang on patients’ doors, and handmade over 100 beautiful birthday cards that nurses will be able to use when one of their patients is celebrating a birthday. Families also took time to honor nurses and those who have been patients in hospitals by writing their names on balloons. Please take a peek at these balloons and completed crafts here.…everyone did an AMAZING job!!! Pierce Downer is able to donate these Birthday Kits to patients and nurses at Edward Hospital and Rush. The SLC would like to thank ALL participants who attended/supported the SLC Events this past 2019-20 school year. You made a difference in many people’s lives, and your kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed. We are so grateful for you! We look forward to the 2020-21 school year!!

2020-2021 PTA Volunteer Sign Up – The Pierce Downer PTA is beginning to plan our volunteer opportunities for the 2020-21 school year and will again be using Sign Up to help us organize our volunteer efforts.  This information helps us form committees, especially those that need to be up & running in August (i.e.: New Family Welcome, Room Reps, Copy Helpers and Welcome Back Party).  Please sign up for what interests you and also keep in mind that while we are hopeful that all of these events can take place during the next school year, we are following all District 58 guidelines:

Virtual Scholastic Book Fair – PD will be hosting a virtual Scholastic book fair, running from May 11th through Sept. 4th.  All you have to do to access our online fair is go to:https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/piercedowner.  Books will ship directly to students’ homes, and shipping is free if you spend $25. What a great way to stock up those summer home libraries!
