PD PTA Zoom General Meetings – Last week, the PD PTA voted on providing the PD 6th graders front lawn signs celebrating their promotion into middle school and the vote was unanimously passed.  In addition, at our general PD PTA meeting this morning we approved the incoming board members for the 2020-2021 school year: Megan Shoemaker, Veronica Roche, and Melissa Odenbach. Welcome! We also gave a big THANK YOU to Elizabeth Dean, Laima Palubinskas and Stephanie Vroman for all of their hard work on the board these past few years. Thank you!
 
All School Yearbook – We hope to send out a link for ordering the 2019-2020 all school yearbook from Jostens sometime soon.  Stay tuned!
 
REMINDERS
 
Virtual Scholastic Book Fair – PD will be hosting a virtual Scholastic book fair, running from May 11th through Sept. 4th.  All you have to do to access our online fair is go to:https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/piercedowner.  Books will ship directly to students’ homes, and shipping is free if you spend $25. What a great way to stock up those summer home libraries!
School kits – Don’t forget to order your school kits for the 2020-21 school year! Please click here for more information and logon to https://www.carlsonschoolkits.com to order! Orders are due no later than June 14th!
 
Year end reimbursement/checks – Have you submitted all of your PTA related expenses for the year? Please complete the check request form here and either email the request (plus any receipts) to Kerry Sharpee at ksharpee@hotmail.com or drop off in her mailbox (4818 Stonewall) as soon as possible. All check requests are due no later than the last day of school, June 3rd.

SLC’s Inpatient Kid Care Event AT HOME – Our original event was scheduled for March 13th. Since we still wanted to support the patients and nurses at
Edward Hospital and Rush, we decided to bring the event to the participants’ homes. Kid Care Kits were dropped off to 11 families last week. They will be tying fleece blankets, assembling handmade birthday cards and coloring “happy birthday” signs that will be used as decorations for patients at the hospitals. We hope to deliver these completed kits in the beginning of June. Thank you to all who are participating and for the incredible parents on the Service Learning Committee who helped plan and prep this event.
