PTA Nominating Committee –The PTA is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the nominating committee for next year’s board elections.  We need to elect two general PTA members to this committee, in addition to one current board member.  Individuals on the nominating committee are responsible for reviewing the applications of individuals interested in serving on next year’s PTA Board in the event that we have more than one individual interested in a particular position.  After reviewing the applications, the committee will make a recommendation to the current board with regards to which candidate they feel is the most qualified.  Anyone interested in serving on this committee should submit their names to Stephanie Vroman at pdptapresident@gmail.com before Friday, February 7th.  From those interested, we will elect two members to serve on the committee at a general PTA meeting scheduled for February 10th at 10:30 am.  All current PTA members are welcome to attend this meeting and vote on the members of the nominating committee.   

Battle of the Bands – SAVE THE DATES -The Battle of the Bands Kid Show is scheduled for the evening of Friday, March 20th at Evolution Music. The Battle of the Bands Adult Show is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, April 18th at Ballydoyle. More details to follow soon!

Trivia Night – Trivia Night College Edition is almost here! Don’t miss out on being a part of the best night of the year on February 8th at the Moose Lodge, it’s for the kids!   Please Register Here and contact Veronica Roche at veronica.e.roche@gmail.com or Megan Shoemaker at meganrinaudo@gmail.com with any questions. Registration deadline is coming up, February 1, 2020!

FREE PTA Event – Be Internet Awesome! – Please save the date for Thursday, February 13th at 6:00 pm in the Pierce Downer gym to listen to an extremely informative presentation regarding Safety on the Internet given by our own PD staff and PTA.  Pierce Downer was able to schedule this event through a PTA Grant, so it is completely free to the community.  Best of all, because of this grant, food will be provided, prizes will be handed out, and each family will get to take home a series of guidelines to help us all navigate through internet safety better.  Please use this Google form to RSVP. Questions? Contact Mrs. Collins at school.
 
Variety Show – Thanks to everyone for signing up for this years variety show.  We are still looking for 6th graders to emcee and be stage crew.  If interested please Register Here.

NEW INFORMATION 

Joint SLC/Student Council Event  – Yesterday, twenty one Pierce Downer students and their parents/grandparents brightened the day of many residents at Lexington Healthcare Center in Lombard. At this SLC event, students interviewed the residents, played human bingo, and made a valentine’s door decoration with the seniors. A HUGE thank you goes out to Hannah Wells and Beatrix Hawkins, Student Council Members, who partnered with SLC and planned all the activities and details of the visit! The residents were beyond excited to hear and see the performances from members of our very own PD family. Sajan Komanduri, Beatrix Hawkins and Meredith Hawkins all played piano pieces. Briley Steffes played guitar and sang several songs, one of which was an original. Addelynn Amidei and Annie Scholz Irish danced. Thank you ALL for helping make this event a success!!
