SLC Stocking Stuffer Packing Party – Help the Service Learning Committee bring joy to children in need this holiday season…we are hosting a Stocking Stuffer Packing Party on Tuesday, December 10th from 3:10-4:30pm in the Pierce Downer gym. The SLC is partnering with Sharing Connections of Downers Grove (www.SharingConnections.org) to fill 125 stockings with toys and gifts that will be given to underserved children in our community. There will be a short presentation about Sharing Connections at the beginning of the packing party. Please click here to reserve your spot at the packing party and to choose the items you wish to donate. If you are unable to attend the event, you can still participate by donating items from the list you will find on the registration link (above). Please have your children drop off unwrapped items by Monday, Dec. 9th in the boxes near the office, or you can bring them to the Student Council Movie Night on Friday, December 6th.
Questions or would like to help with the event: email Jennie Amidei at jenamidei@gmail.com.  (Student Council Members: email Jennie Amidei if you want to volunteer at event).

SLC “Minute of Empathy” – This year, the Service Learning Committee is launching a monthly “Minute of Empathy” that ties into our Pierce Downer Value of Being Empathetic.  Through these “minutes”, we are aiming to foster empathy and generate awareness for various causes and needs. The links we share will allow you to sit with your family at dinner, before bed, or while waiting for a carpool ride to show up, and take a minute (or several minutes!) to check out these resources together. The more awareness we have, the more empathetic we can be! Please see attached flyer for more information on November’s Minute of Empathy here.

Thank you to everyone who donated their Halloween candy to Operation Gratitude, because of you 350 pounds (13 boxes full) of candy was sent to our troops.  A HUGE thank you to Kelly Larson, Ziba Irvin and Kelly Henrikson for collecting and boxing all of the candy that was sent.

Please find Meeting Minutes from our November PTA General Board Meeting here.
