Donate Candy for Troops – Dreading all the candy your kids bring home from Halloween? Have no fear!  From November 1st – 8th you can donate your unwanted/extra candy. Simply drop candy in the collection boxes in the front school lobby. The Healthy Kids Committee in collaboration with FedEx is collecting candy to be sent to Operation Gratitude who will send the candy to our troops stationed overseas during the holidays.  
 
REMINDERS
 

Evereve Night Out – Reminder to please come and support your school!  Join us Tuesday, November 5th from 6pm-9pm at Evereve in Burr Ridge for wine, snacks and shopping. 15% of the sales will go back to Pierce Downer school.  Please email Melissa Poirier melissaeve26@gmail.com if you can make the event. PTA Meeting & Presentation – The PTA is sponsoring a short presentation and Q&A with Dr. Kevin Russell, superintendent of DG58 on Tuesday, November 12th at 7pm in the PD Library after a brief PTA meeting. Dr. Russell is excited to meet a lot of our PD parents on this informative night!
Reflections – We only have a few more days until the Reflection entries are due. Please give them to your teacher or turn them in to the office by Friday, November 1st. Reflections is a National PTA art program where each student is encouraged to submit an entry in one or more of 6 creative categories (listed below). This year the National PTA Reflections theme is: “Look Within.” Please review the rules carefully before your student begins his or her project(s).

Battle of the Bands– Last chance to sign up to play in a band for Battle of the Bands this year!  We need you to make this amazing event successful!  Please sign up to be in a band by November 8th by clicking here. Box Tops – Last call for paper box tops! Those who have clipped and collected box tops over the year, please send them to school! Box Tops will still be sent in during the transition to the app. The first submission date is November 1st. A box can be found in the Pierce Downer school office where Box Tops can be dropped off. Please place them in a ziploc bag and label how many are in the bag. Keep scanning those receipts, using the Box Top app and helping our school earn more!
 
Thank you to everyone who attended ARTCOT this past Friday and made some fabulous art!  A special thanks to PD administration and faculty for allowing the PTA to host the event. The PTA would also like to thank the following parents who made the event possible: Melissa Odenbach, Kelly Henrikson, Donna Miller, Janne Dombrowski, Carrie Garman, Jennifer Lytle, Jennifer Meggos, Kara McMahon, Yan Wang, Margaret Cho, Mariah Cameron, Allison Heverin, Kelly Larsen, Jennifer Miller, Nicki Blattner, Kerry Sharpee, Jennifer Klemz, and DGN Honor Students.
