Evereve Night Out – Come Shop With Us!!  Join us Tuesday, November 5th from 6pm-9pm at Evereve in Burr Ridge for wine, snacks and shopping. 15% of the sales will go back to Pierce Downer school.  Please email Melissa Poirier if you can make the event. Thanks and see flyer here.

Chipotle Fundraiser – Please join in support PD at Chipotle (corner of Ogden and Saratoga) on Wednesday, October 23 from 4pm to 8pm. Flyers will be going home with your students next week. Simply show the flyer (click here) or access it via your phone to earn 33% of your bill for PD.

School Assembly –  Students will participate in the Wheel of Wisdom assembly in the gym on Thursday, October 24. The assembly is a high energy game show experience where kids answer a variety of grade level quiz questions. This is the first PTA-sponsored assembly of the year. Don’t forget to ask your child what they learned!

Scholastic Book Fair – The fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the LRC during parent-teacher conferences, which are this week. Stop by and support the LRC and the love of reading on the following dates: today, October 15th: 12-3pm and 4:30-8pm and Thursday, October 17th: 4:30-8pm. Student previews will take place tomorrow and Thursday mornings during students’ book checkout times. Students in grades 3-6 can shop during preview times and may bring a max of $20 to school in an envelope. 
Box Tops – Last call for paper box tops! Those who have clipped and collected box tops over the year, please send them to school! Box Tops will still be sent in during the transition to the app. The first submission date is November 1st. A box can be found in the Pierce Downer school office where Box Tops can be dropped off. Please place them in a ziploc bag and label how many are in the bag. Keep scanning those receipts, using the Box Top app and helping our school earn more!
Reflections – Have you heard? The Reflections program is back for the 2019-20 school year! We met with each classroom to discuss the program and gain some excitement from the students! Reflections is a National PTA art program where each student is encouraged to submit an entry in one or more of 6 creative categories (listed below). This year the National PTA Reflections theme is: “Look Within.” Please review the rules carefully before your student begins his or her project(s).

STEAM – Currently enrolling for Sticky Fingers Cooking Class. Let your child release their inner chef! Students will prepare and eat healthy, international inspired recipes all while learning to cook in a fun, engaging, hands-on and real-world way! 100% nut free, vegetarian and happily accommodate for any and all food allergies. A fall session is being offered for grades K-6 beginning Friday, October 18th from 3-4pm. This class is 7 sessions. Click here for more information and registration details.
KOHA App – Please download the KOHA app today and start supporting Pierce Downer! This is an easy and free app that helps give back to Pierce Downer each time you shop at many of our local businesses, such as: Cadence, Mojo’s, Another Round, Zazzo’s, Evelyn Jane, Adorn 512, Bangle Boulevard, and many more! Just download the app (search KOHA in your App Store), register your personal information, select Pierce Downer as your school and start shopping!!  Its as simple as selecting the local business from the approved merchant list, attaching a picture of your receipt and watching the dollars go straight to PD!
