This is a fun filled day for the kids, but can not happen without the help of volunteers.  Please consider volunteering as a game chaperone or a face painter.  We look forward to another wonderful field day! Fun Run – Congratulations to everyone who ran the Pierce Downer Fun Run on May 2nd! What a great turn out we had even though the weather was not cooperating! We want to congratulate the top 10 runners for girls and boys as well. Thank you everyone for running so fast in the rain!

Summer Math Club Volunteers Needed-  We are looking for volunteers at both the district and school levels!!

  • At the district level- The PTA Council is looking for one (or 2) volunteers to help Co-Chair the Summer Math Club this year.  Katie Suva, a Hillcrest mom, has been running this program for several years, but cannot continue to do it alone, so is looking for two co-chairs.  Please see the attachment for a description of job.  If interested, please contact Katie Suva at katie@suva1.com.
  • At the school level- We are still looking for a Pierce Downer school coordinator to organize the Summer Math Club at our school level this summer.  Please see the attachment for the job description/responsibilities.  If interested, please contact Mariah Cameron or Stephanie Vroman at pdptapresident@gmail.com.

Unfortunately, Summer Math Club will not run this summer if these positions are not filled.

Fight Like a Girl Social Fundraising Event – Please join us on Saturday, May 18th from 7-11p.m. at the Royal Order of the Moose Lodge for a fundraiser to support the Pierce Downer family of two-year-old Regan Ulazsek, who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  All proceeds will go directly to the Ulaszek family to help with Regan’s future medical expenses.  Tickets are $40 per person or $80 per couple and can be purchased at https://fight-like-a-girl.ticketleap.com/regan/.  Join your friends in rallying around this Pierce Downer family for a fun night out while helping Regan in her courageous fight against this devastating disease.  If you cannot attend this fundraiser but would still like to make a donation to Regan’s fight, please visit, https://fight-like-a-girl.ticketleap.com/regan/

 
 
REMINDERS
 
PTA Meeting and Volunteer Luncheon – Please join us at RBK at 12:00pm on May 17th! This is open to ALL parents who have served in ANY volunteer capacity during the course of the year. The PTA can not provide the breadth of programs without the financial support and volunteer support from our community. We will be voting on year end budget spending, approving the PTA board slate for next year and other year end business. All are welcome and the cost is $5.50 per person. Please sign up here if you are able to come!
Family Night Show and School Assembly – Please join us tonight for Tim Hannig’s Pro-Kids Family Night Show! Tonight at 6:30pm at Pierce Downer. The evening show will focus on character building and feature magic, music, comedy, and motivation. Students will have an assembly during the school day and then families are invited to attend the evening show. You won’t want to miss this exciting family show tonight! Doughnut Day! – Bring your positive MALE role model (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, etc.) to school for doughnuts, coffee and conversation! Come to the Pierce Downer Gym at 7:40am on Monday, May 13th for 4th – 6th grade students & Monday, May 20th for K – 3rd grade students. Kickbowl 2019 – Calling all PD Boys for the annual kickball tournament with your favorite lady!  The date is May 22nd from 5:30-8:30pm and pizza will be served!  Please sign up here by THIS FRIDAY, May 10th.
