TONIGHT – PTA Meeting & Presentation -The PTA is sponsoring a presentation and Q&A with Dr. Thiele, superintendent of DG99 and Jill Browning, Communications Director for DG99 TONIGHT at 7pm in the PD Library after a brief PTA meeting.

Dr. Thiele and Ms. Browning will be giving an overview to the additions and modifications to the facilities at DGN (and DGS – but our presentation will focus on DGN) which have been approved by the DG99 school board. The Downers Grove community will be asked to vote on this issue in March. It the desire of the PTA to inform Pierce Downer parents of what is happening at the high school level because eventually it will effect our children (some sooner than others). Please join us for a presentation outlining the proposed changes, what they will cost and how it will effect you.

NEW INFORMATION

Box Tops for Education Race for Recess – Rev Up Your Engines…. It’s Box Top Time! Support our school and participate in a friendly Box Top grade level competition! The competition will run Tuesday, February 20th-23rd. Send box tops into school with your child in a ziploc bag labeled with the teacher’s name and amount of box tops included. Please make sure the box tops are not expired. Each day, the box tops will be counted as the classes race to win an EXTRA RECESS this spring! Due to the different number of students in each grade, it will be computed by percentage. Totals will be given daily to keep the competitive spirit alive with a winning class announced on Friday, February 23rd!

Box Tops can be found on hundreds of products from brands like General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Ziploc, Kleenex, Hefty, etc. A complete list can be found at btfe.com. Remember to ask family, friends, and neighbors to clip them as well and then be ready to submit them the week of February 20th!
Thank you for your support!

Reflections Update – Congratulations again to all of the students who participated in the Reflections program this year!  We had 9 total projects that were selected to move onto the Regional competition back in December.  Of those 9 entries, six have moved on to compete at the Illinois state level as follows:

  • Malini Fisher – Dance
  • Rajan Fisher – Film
  • Hannah Klemz – Film
  • Sajan Komanduri – Film
  • Pallavi Fisher – Music
  • Avery Miller – Visual Arts

We should find out later in the spring about the next round of judging and competition results for these students.  Way to go!  The projects that did not move on to compete at the regional and/or state level will be displayed in the library beginning this week.  A majority of these projects had advanced to the District level, and we could not be prouder of all of our students accomplishments.  Please stop by the library to see these amazing projects!

Sweetheart Dance – The Sweetheart dance was a huge success! Thank you all that were able to join the fun!  Also a big thank you to Dee O’Driscoll, Sara Purgatorio, Jennifer Klemz, Lisa Ordway, Brenda Bruno, and Lora Dominow! You all made the dance so special for the girls!
