NEW INFORMATION

Donate Candy for Troops – Dreading all the candy your kids bring home from Halloween?  Have no fear!  From November 1st- 8th you can donate your unwanted/extra candy. Simply drop candy in the collection boxes in the front school lobby. The Healthy Kids Committee in collaboration with FedEx is collecting candy to be sent to Operation Gratitude who will send the candy to our troops stationed overseas during the holidays.

Box Tops – Box Tops can be found on everything from
bath tissue to office supplies! A complete list of products can be found at www.BTFE.com. You can also download the Box Tops for Education App to collect box tops virtually! Don’t forget to ask friends, family, and coworkers to clip box tops too! Once you spot the label, simply cut it from the package and send it to school with your child. For every box top received, PD will earn 10 cents to help us purchase the items we need most.

Box Tops can be brought to school anytime in ziploc bags labeled with the number of clipped items inside. A gray box labeled Box Tops can be found in the school office. We will be running a friendly competition in early February which will be grade level vs grade level for one week. The winning class will earn an in-school special prize! Any Box Tops submitted before the competition will be evenly divided amongst the grades. You can hold Box Tops as well until the competition in February.

Student Drop Off Procedure – Click here to view the drop off procedures for both Grant and Oakwood.  Please remember if you are in the drop off line to pull all the way forward and to have students ready to get out of the car. Also, please do not park or stand in the handicap parking space in front of the school when dropping off or picking up your child(ren).
Reading Games – We are excited to see so many teams reserve spots for the 2018 Reading Games! If you have a child who would like to participate but does not have a team, you may request a spot during our individual student registration. Individual student registration will open Wednesday, November 1st at 9am, and will close Sunday, November 5th at 9pm.Although we cannot guarantee a spot on a team, we will do our best to match children to existing teams, or to assist you in creating a new team, by November 15th. You will need to provide your child’s name, grade, and school, reading level (1 or 2), and an indication of whether you could volunteer as a team leader if a new team is formed. Please note, students who are on an existing team do not need to register. Please go to www.readinggamesdg58.com to register your child. May the books be in your favor.  Questions, contact ReadingGamesDG58@gmail.com.
