Parent Education & PTA Meeting – Our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00pm in the Gym. Immediately following the brief meeting, the PD PTA presents executive function skills specialist and coach Lisa Marsicano. Please consider joining us for this 1 hour presentation in the PD gym. Author/Illustrator Carson Ellis Visit – Pierce Downer School is excited to welcome author/illustrator Carson Ellis this Thursday. She will be talking to Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders about her new book Du Iz Tak? – the story of a backyard colony of insects told in their own special language. If you are interested in buying an autographed copy of her book, an order form was sent home last week and is also available to download on the school website.

Photography Club – First meeting is this Wednesday, October 19th in Mrs. Kehm’s room. This is only for 4th and 5th graders who have handed in their permission slips.
Language Stars – The Spanish class offered on Tuesday morning started today, however, there is still space in this 3th-6th grade class and you can still register! Click on the Language Stars Flyer for registration information.
Reflections – Only TEN days left to participate in the Reflections program! Projects are due Friday, October 28, 2016. We recently met with each classroom to discuss Reflections and heard so much excitement from the students! Reflections is a national PTA art program where each student is encouraged to submit an entry in one or more of 6 creative categories (listed below, along with the general rules and special artist links). This year’s Reflections theme is: What is Your Story? Click on the links below for detailed guidelines/rules per category from the Illinois PTA. Please review the rules carefully before your student begins his/her project.
