NEW INFORMATION

Reflections –Pierce Downer is immensely proud of this year’s participants. We had 10 entries in this year’s PTA Reflections contest, ‘I Matter Because…” Students exhibited skill, imagination and passion through their artwork. Each entry is an impressive display of Pierce Downers creativity and talent. Below is a list of our participants:

Film Production– (3rd-5th) Priya Fisher-Advancing to State, (6th-8th) Avery Miller-Advancing to State
Music Composition– (3rd-5th) Meredith Hawkins-Advancing to Regionals
Photography– (6th-8th) Gianna Modica-3 entries advancing to State and Avery Miller-Advancing to State
Visual Arts– (3rd-5th) Michael Morrissey, (6th-8th) Beatrix Hawkins-Advancing to Regionals and Avery Miller-Advancing to State

In February, PTA Reflections Council will honor all students who advanced to the DuPage East District level with an awards ceremony to be held virtually. In addition, they will announce the student entries that further advanced to the Regional and State levels of the competition. Thank you to all our participants, what a wonderful achievement!!! We are so proud of our budding artistic students!!
 
PTA Nominating Committee – The PTA is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the nominating committee for next year’s board elections.  We need to elect two general PTA members to this committee (including two alternates), in addition to one current board member.  Individuals on the nominating committee are responsible for reviewing the applications of individuals interested in serving on next year’s PTA Board in the event that we have more than one individual interested in a particular position.  After reviewing the applications, the committee will make a recommendation to the current board with regards to which candidate they feel is the most qualified.  Anyone interested in serving on this committee should submit their names to Nicki Blattner at pdptapresident@gmail.com before Friday, January 29th.  From those interested, we will elect two members to serve on the committee (and alternates) at a general PTA meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 17th at 7:00 pm.  All current PTA members are welcome to attend this meeting via Zoom (more details to follow) and vote on the members of the nominating committee.  

REMINDERS

Gia Mia Dine Out – Please join us for our monthly dine-out on Wednesday, January 20th, from 3-8pm at Gia Mia (located at 994 Warren Ave. at the NE corner of Main St. and Warren Ave.) You can order online, by phone, or walk in. Please enter the code on this flyer (PIERCEPTA) if you order online, or if you’re ordering by phone, simply tell them you’re with the Pierce Downer fundraiser and 20% of your check will go back to PD!
