KOHA App – Please download the KOHA app today and start supporting Pierce Downer! This is an easy and free app that helps give back to Pierce Downer each time you shop at many of our local businesses, such as: Cadence, Mojo’s, Another Round, Zazzo’s, Evelyn Jane, Adorn 512, Bangle Boulevard, and many more! Just download the app (search KOHA in your App Store), register your personal information, select Pierce Downer as your school and start shopping!!  Its as simple as selecting the local business from the approved merchant list, attaching a picture of your receipt and watching the dollars go straight to PD! Destination Imagination (DI) – Is your son/daughter interested in forming a Destination Imagination Team? See the links below to find out what DI is all about. If you still have questions after viewing the website, please contact Kelly Henrikson at kel624@gmail.com. She would be happy to answer questions you may have about DI and forming/leading a team for you own child.

REMINDERS

Scholastic Book Fair – The fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the LRC during parent-teacher conferences, which are next week. Stop by and support the LRC and the love of reading on the following dates:Tuesday, October 15th: 12-3pm and 4:30-8pm and Thursday, October 17th: 4:30-8pm. Student previews will take place net Wednesday and Thursday mornings during students’ book checkout times. Students in grades 3-6 can shop during preview times and may bring a max of $20 to school in an envelope. 

Reflections – The Reflections program is back again for the 2019-20 school year! We were excited to meet with each classroom to discuss the program and saw a lot of excitement from the students! Reflections is a National PTA art program where each student is encouraged to submit an entry in one or more of 6 creative categories (Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Visual Arts, Photography, and Music Composition). This year the National PTA Reflections theme is: “Look Within”. Please review the rules carefully (national link here) before your student begins his or her project(s). STEAM – Currently enrolling for Sticky Fingers Cooking Class. Let your child release their inner chef! Students will prepare and eat healthy, international inspired recipes all while learning to cook in a fun, engaging, hands-on and real-world way! 100% nut free, vegetarian and happily accommodate for any and all food allergies. A fall session is being offered for grades K-6 beginning Friday, October 18th from 3-4pm. This class is 7 sessions. Click here for more information and registration details.

MOD Pizza Fundraiser/Homecoming T Shirts – Thank you to all who visited MOD pizza for lunch or dinner last Thursday, because of you we raised approximately $354.  Thanks also to all who purchased homecoming shirts, because of you we raised approximately $300. Both of these items earned money that that will go directly back to Pierce Downer!  We appreciate your support! Thank you to Vikki Jacknow for organizing!
